Why?
What Will You Do? is a public projection that illuminates participants’ personal commitments to reduce their ecological footprint. These pledges are sent by text message and visualized in real-time onto a billboard or large screen. A soundscape of pre-recorded commitments accompanies the projection and creates a temporary theatre of entertainment, education and transformation.
We all know about climate change, and the effect our actions have on our environment. We are conscious of the fact that our current material consumption is unsustainable. We also know that we have to change our behaviour before it's too late.
But are we as individuals willing to struggle against the convenience our personal habits in order to produce less waste and consume less energy? Are we ready to take individual responsibility in the interest of our collective home? What are we each willing to do, big or small, at home, work or in our communities?
By displaying the multitude of our pledges, we learn from each other’s initiatives and illustrate that the sum of our modest individual contributions can produce a massive collective transformation.
